Variable Conch
DESCRIPTION
Shell medium-sized, solid with an axial ridge situated at left side of parietal shield. Spire tall and shouldered with numerous axial ribs. Body whorl glossy with many prominent nodules on shoulder, stromboid notch broad and shallow. Aperture smooth and white, outer lip thick flaring and posteriorly notched. Color porcelain white at ventral surface with brown zigzag lines on dorsum. Specimens collected in Vietnam are scarcely ornamented with the brown blotch on the columella. This species was named for its rich variability. Distribution: Vung Tau, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Quang Ngai, etc. Size: 25-60 mm
