Scarlet Mitre
DESCRIPTION
Shell large, fusiform elongate with convex whorls and a tall spire with oblique sutures. Sculpture consists of fine spiral grooves and elongate axial ribs, obsolete on the body whorl. Aperture narrowly elongate and whitish, outer lip deep orange with a notch at the posterior extremity. Columella yellowish and weakly calloused with four white folds. Color uniformly yellow with white spiral cord on each whorl. Predators frequently attack this shell and it is rather difficult to collect a specimen without growth lines. Distribution: Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Van Gia, Cam Ranh, Con Son Island, etc. Size: 50-87 mm
