Shell large, circular in shape and slighly taller than long. Sculpture consists of approximately 22 broad, widely-space radial ribs with riblets in the innterspace at two valves. Anterior auricle longer thn the posterior auticle and sculpture with scaled ribs, byssal gape large. Color variable (brown, red, yellow,...) with darker comarginal bands. Interior surface with the same color at two valves, inner margins crenulate. Many authors considered this species a subspecies of Mimachlamys senatoria. Distribution: Vung Tau, Thuan Hai (Mui Ne, Phan Thiet, Ham Tan, etc), Khanh Hoa Ninh Thuan (Long Huong,Phan Ri, etc) Phu Quoc Island, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, etc. Size: 55-75 mm
