This small group has thick, glossy, often plump shells blotched with rown. The columella is smooth, the outer lip sharp- edged, and the siphonal canalshort and broad. There is a thin, flexible, corneous operculum. Most species are from the tropical Indo-Pacific and live in shallow water on sand or mud.
